Mr. Navin Beekarry assumes office as the Director General of the Independent Commission Against Corruption today, July 1st 2016.

In his address to the staff of ICAC, Mr. Beekarry highlighted that developing and engaging in a conversation, both internally and with our external stakeholders, is the key to achieving the vision and objective he has set for the Commission.

He concluded his exposé by stating that “ICAC is a unique organisation. We have to lead by example for other institutions to follow. We are building a culture. One of integrity and values. This is what it’s all about”.

Mr. Beekarry joins ICAC at the same tenure he held from 2002 to 2005, following which he worked at the International Monetary Fund from 2005 to 2008. Since then, he has been an academic at the George Washington Law School. During the past 11 years, he has had the opportunity to research and teach anti-corruption, money laundering, asset forfeiture and other interconnected issues in a glocal perspective. He also has a wide international in-country experience and has worked with the G20.
